The Technical Director Training Volume 2 is a scripting downloadable DVD for Softimage XSI. Authored by Charbel Koueik, this DVD covers the development of a Spring Dynamics Plugin "Dynamo", from scratch.Using JScript, the author will start by exploring fundamental motion control techniques using scripted operators. The first is automatic easing motion, which when combined with the Dynamo Dynamic Bone plugin, can generate realistic fish-like motion with a few clicks.

The method that Charbel follows in this DVD is to explain every concept with x, y, z components for easier understanding, and then convert the SCOP to Vectors at a later stage for better programming practice. After easing and the math behind it, Charbel moves over to springing and the math/physics involved there. A reminder of simple highschool-level concepts will be presented, and then their application in code. Various springing methods will be covered, with an eye on which one works best for character animation. The types of springs discussed range from Linear to Rotation to Radial Springs. After the final spring is built with a Scripted Operator, Charbel will transform it into a plugin, along with a very useful and reusable UI. Through the coding process, a lot of fundamental XSI programming methods will be covered, like Custom Commands, Propeties and different Callback types.

Technical Specs

TD Training Vol 2 comes in downloadable format. The total size is around 1 GB.The TD Training Vol 2 interface needs a minimum of 1152 x 864 screen resolution. Please note that you cannot run the DVD on a 1024x768 screen area. Anything beyond that is enough though in order to see the interface properly.If you are on a slow connection, you can take all the time you need to download. We recommend using a download manager. Once downloaded, the training can be burnt on DVD for backup.

TD Training Vol 2 requires Quicktime installed on the user's machine.

TD Training vol 2 is node locked, which means that it can only be viewed on one machine, the one you got the license for, not necessarily the machine you downloaded from. Up to 2 extra licenses can be provided free of charge if so required.
